         MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME

Integrated watershed management forms a major thrust area for PJKS and currently the organization is taking up watershed development under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojna (erstwhile Integrated Watershed Management Program; IWMP) in 9,729 hectare in two blocks of Pauri district of Uttarakhand.

PJKS has designed the entire program according to the needs identified by the community through extensive Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) exercises carried out in the project villages. This has not only meant that the local communities have been closely involved in the planning of the program but also this has ensured that community needs and concerns are being adequately addressed through subsequent program activities. In this way effective watershed management leads to the development and empowerment of the watershed community.
